Overview

If you operate equipment that depends on a cellular data connection, an ATM, a vending machine, a cellular security panel, a payment terminal, or any IoT device with a SIM card, you already know what weak signal costs you. Transactions fail. Alerts do not arrive. A service tech drives to a site to find the machine offline because the modem could not hold a connection.

The weBoost IoT Direct Connect Signal Booster (475079) solves that problem at the device level. Instead of broadcasting a stronger signal to a room with an inside antenna, it connects by coax cable directly to your device's cellular antenna port. An outside antenna on the roof or wall pulls in the strongest available signal, the amplifier boosts it, and the device receives a clean, stronger feed straight through the cable. For a single piece of equipment, that is a more efficient path than a consumer-grade kit, and it fits inside the cabinets and enclosures where commercial gear actually lives.

The IoT Direct is pre-approved under FCC Part 20 across all major US carriers, so there is no carrier paperwork, no waiting for activation, and no risk of being locked to a single network. Our engineers commonly recommend it for operators who need a reliable, lower-cost direct-connect option for one device per location, with antenna runs that fall within standard coax distances. For deployments that need long cable runs or Power-over-Coax, WilsonPro IoT 3.0 is on our store as the heavier-duty alternative. Both have a place, and we will tell you which one fits your situation before you buy.

Product Highlights & Benefits

Product Highlights

  • Direct-connect amplifier designed to feed a single cellular device, not broadcast to a room
  • Pre-approved under FCC Part 20 for all major US carriers, with no carrier registration required
  • Five-band coverage across 700 MHz, 850 MHz, AWS 1700/2100 MHz, and PCS 1900 MHz
  • Passive RF bypass failover keeps the device connected to the outside antenna if the amplifier loses power
  • Auto-power control adjusts output continuously to maintain maximum safe gain and prevent oscillation
  • Compact 5.4 by 4.2 by 1.4 inch footprint fits inside vending machines, ATM cabinets, kiosk enclosures, and security panels
  • MCX and MMCX adapter cables in the box cover most cellular modems and OEM IoT boards
  • N-Female outside antenna port works with standard outdoor antenna SKUs and longer cable runs

Top Benefits

  • Fewer failed transactions, dropped alerts, and no-signal service calls at locations with weak cellular reception
  • Carrier-agnostic deployment, so the same SKU works across every major US carrier and through any future carrier swaps
  • Quick to deploy with no carrier paperwork, which keeps installs on schedule
  • Graceful failure mode through passive bypass, so equipment does not go fully dark if power is interrupted
  • Lifetime tech support and a two-year manufacturer warranty for one-site operators and integrators alike

Who This Is For

This product is the right choice if you are:

  • An ATM, vending, kiosk, or payment terminal operator with one or more locations where signal is the limiting factor
  • A security or fire alarm integrator who installs cellular-backup panels at customer sites and needs a known-good amplifier in the truck
  • An operations or fleet manager standardizing a repeatable install kit across 20 to a few hundred machines
  • An OEM or product engineer specifying a signal amplifier as a component in a cellular-enabled product

This product is not the right choice if you need:

  • Indoor coverage for a room or building (use a broadcasting booster like the weBoost Office or a SureCall Fusion4Home for that)
  • Power-over-Coax for a long basement-to-roof cable run (look at WilsonPro IoT 3.0)
  • A single-band, single-carrier amplifier for a tight-cost OEM rollout (look at the SureCall single-band IoT options)

If you are not sure which side of that line your project falls on, our engineering team will walk through it with you before you order.

In the Box

  • IoT Direct cellular amplifier with wall mount bracket
  • Mini magnetic-mount antenna with N Male to SMA Female adapter and adhesive pad
  • 2 foot SMA to N Male cable
  • 1 foot SMA to MMCX adapter cable
  • 1 foot SMA to MCX adapter cable
  • 12V AC/DC power supply

Coverage Area & Supported Carriers

Direct-connect amplifiers are measured differently from broadcast boosters. There is no square footage coverage area, because the amplifier feeds one device through a cable, not a room through an inside antenna. What matters instead is how much signal the amplifier delivers to your device. The IoT Direct provides up to 15 dB of gain across all five supported bands, with uplink output around 23 dBm across the supported bands, enough to maintain a reliable data link in locations where the unboosted signal is too weak for stable connections.

In practice, the result depends on three things. The strength of the cellular signal available at the outside antenna location is the largest factor. Cable distance from antenna to amplifier and from amplifier to device is the second. The frequency band your device uses for data is the third. Mounting the outside antenna on the highest point of the structure, with line of sight to the cell tower wherever possible, produces the best result.

The IoT Direct is compatible with all major US carriers. It supports Band 12/17 and Band 13 at 700 MHz, Band 5 at 850 MHz, Band 4 at 1700/2100 MHz AWS, and Band 25/2 at 1900 MHz PCS, which covers the LTE bands used by every major US carrier network.

Installation Overview

The IoT Direct installs in five steps. The work is straightforward for anyone comfortable running coax and connecting hardware.

  1. Mount the outside antenna on the highest available point that is clear of obstructions. Keep at least 12 inches between the outside antenna and any other antennas.
  2. Place the amplifier in a location protected from heat, direct sunlight, and moisture, with reasonable ventilation. Inside a vending machine cabinet, an ATM enclosure, or a wall-mounted security panel is typical.
  3. Run the outside antenna cable to the amplifier and finger-tighten the N connector on the port marked Antenna. Do not over-torque.
  4. Connect your device to the amplifier using the included SMA to N Male cable. If your device uses an MCX or MMCX port, use the matching adapter cable from the kit between the device and the SMA to N cable.
  5. Plug the 12V power supply into a surge-protected outlet and connect it to the amplifier. A hardwire option (CBL000113) is available if your install location does not have AC power readily available.

Status lights on the amplifier confirm operation. A solid green downlink LED means the system is working correctly. A blinking green uplink LED indicates active communication with the cell tower. Solid red on uplink and downlink means the amplifier has shut down a band to prevent oscillation, which usually points to insufficient separation between the outside antenna and the device. Move the outside antenna farther away or change its orientation, cycle power, and the system will reset.

If you are deploying across more than a handful of sites, our engineering team will help you spec a repeatable install kit so your crew is following a checklist instead of improvising per site.
