Installing the SignalMax Fiber DAS system requires basic low-voltage tools, clear planning, and careful attention to antenna placement. The system is modular and designed for professional installers, integrators, or facility teams familiar with coax and fiber infrastructure.

Step 1: Mount the Outside Antenna and Master Unit

Start by identifying the area with the strongest outdoor signal — usually the highest point on the building facing the nearest cell tower. Use the SureCall app or a signal meter to confirm signal strength in dBm (not just phone bars). Mount the Yagi directional antenna at least 25 vertical feet or 50 horizontal feet away from any indoor antennas to prevent interference. Connect the antenna to the Master Unit using SC-400 coaxial cable.

Mount the Master Unit indoors near the antenna cable entry point. Make sure the unit is installed vertically with all ports facing downward and the grounding wire attached to a proper earth ground.

Step 2: Run Fiber Optic to the Remote Unit

Use the included 250-foot single-mode fiber optic cable to connect the Master Unit to the Remote Unit. This fiber run carries the boosted signal without loss over long distances. Plug each end into the labeled “Optic” ports on the Master and Remote Units.

Step 3: Install and Connect Indoor Antennas

Each Remote Unit supports up to four inside antennas. For most setups, these are Ultra-Thin omni-directional dome antennas mounted on the ceiling. Place them near the center of the area needing coverage, away from obstructions like HVAC ducts or thick walls. Run SC-400 coaxial cable from each antenna to the appropriate ports on the Remote Unit. Use the included compression connectors to terminate cables if needed.

Aim for maximum antenna isolation by spacing antennas as far as possible from the outdoor unit — both vertically and horizontally.

Step 4: Power Up and Optimize

Once all connections are made, plug in the power supplies for both the Master and Remote Units. The Master Unit requires 48VDC and the Remote Unit uses 24VDC. Use surge-protected outlets and avoid switching power sources.
