Overview

The WilsonPro 140i is a dedicated FirstNet signal amplifier built for public safety professionals who need reliable indoor coverage on Band 14. Whether you're managing emergency communications for a city, upgrading coverage inside a hospital, or supporting a school district’s response system, this unit helps ensure first responders stay connected when it matters most.

It’s designed to boost only FirstNet service, which runs on a specific slice of the 700 MHz band reserved for emergency use. That means it won’t interfere with regular cell networks and won’t dilute coverage by trying to amplify too many frequencies at once. This focused approach makes the 140i ideal for meeting FirstNet coverage requirements in buildings where Band 14 signal is weak or missing entirely.

The Pro 140i can operate as a standalone amplifier or be added to an existing WilsonPro system. With strong outside signal, it can cover up to 100,000 square feet per unit. The system includes built-in digital filtering, self-monitoring, and automatic shutdown to stay FCC compliant and avoid interference with other bands.

For IT teams and installers, this model offers Zinwave fiber compatibility and flexible antenna support. It's a purpose-built, industrial-grade tool that solves a very specific problem: poor FirstNet signal indoors.

Installation Overview

The WilsonPro 140i is designed for professional or experienced commercial installation. It can be deployed as a standalone FirstNet booster or added alongside an existing WilsonPro system to deliver dedicated Band 14 coverage where it's needed most.

Basic Setup Steps

  1. Mount the outdoor antenna in a location where FirstNet signal is strongest. Use a directional antenna for better reach, especially in remote or shielded areas.
  2. Run coaxial cable from the outdoor antenna to the amplifier’s outdoor port. Keep the run as short and direct as possible.
  3. Place the amplifier in a secure indoor location with access to power and ventilation.
  4. Connect the indoor antenna to the simplex port. Choose a panel or dome antenna rated for Band 14. Refer to Wilson’s recommended antenna list for best results.
  5. Power on the amplifier and check signal levels and coverage using a FirstNet-compatible device or spectrum scanner.

Installer Tips

  • Maximize separation between indoor and outdoor antennas. A vertical or horizontal distance of at least 20 feet helps prevent feedback or oscillation.
  • Avoid coiling excess cable near the amplifier. Trim cable lengths or route slack away from the unit.
  • Use antennas tested for Band 14. Some older or general-purpose antennas may not perform well on this frequency.
  • If you're adding this to an existing WilsonPro system, connect it in parallel, not in series. Each amplifier should run its own antenna lines.

This unit includes automatic gain control and built-in shutdown protections. If signal levels are too high or unstable, the system will protect itself and nearby networks by temporarily reducing power or turning off the affected band.
